A fresh take on the classic shirt with La Redoute

This summer is all about a long forgotten classic, the shirt. From crisp white tailored shirts, to glamourous shirt dresses from the catwalks of Jil Sanders and McQueen. Teamed with anything from jeans or knotted over a maxi dress, never underestimate the power of the classic shirt.

Jil Sanders sparked the summer shirt trend with her Spring/Summer catwalk collection of elegant gown shirt dresses that have already had a few trips down the red carpet and looked especially beautiful on Leelee Sobieski

I've picked some shirts from La Redoute that will be perfect for this Summer trend. This Lee chambray shirt is all you need to nail the festival look and will see you through the entire summer. It will work all weekend long and looks amazing with denim, so try it with pastel skinnies or shorts, or knot at the waist over a sweeping maxi.

For a chic Mod inspired look, this two-tone black and white shirt looks amazing with colour-pop cropped jeans, but would look equally great tucked into a long length pencil skirt. This shirt could even work with a pastel skirt or wide leg trousers for a Summer wedding.

The sport luxes trend is here to stay for Summer, and this belted short sleeve shirt should be top of your wishlist if you're wondering what should be your first sport luxe piece. The relaxed style can be worn with smart, tailored trousers and heels for a look that's sharp enough for the office.

What shirt will you go for this Summer?

Cannes Film Festival 2012 Red Carpet - Best Dressed

The Cannes Film Festival 2012 red carpet has been awash with couture and diamonds - so what's not to love about arguably the most glamourous event in the red carpet calendar. Cannes' red carpet best dressed are rarely necessarily the biggest stars, but the ones who dare to wear couture that packs a punch.

Eva Longoria, Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing all caught my attention early on at Cannes this year in dresses that had that classic Cannes elegance that harps back to the golden era of Hollywood and the red carpet.

Diane Kruger is one of my ultimate red carpet style stars, so she's actually made my list twice. Once in elegant mint chiffon and and the other in slinky, draped Westwood. And while I'm loving Naomi Watts in Marchesa, and Fan Bingbing in an Elie Saab cape (A CAPE!), I think Jessica Chastain in Gucci has the Cannes red carpet crown. Just look at the way that blush and rose gold gown moves, poetry in motion!

Who was your best dressed at Cannes 2012?

Shady Lady - Polaroid Sunglasses Review

I've got to admit, I'm normally not that fussy about labels or brands when it comes to my sunglasses, but when Polaroid Sunglasses contacted me and asked me to review a pair of their polarized sunnies I found a pair I loved and couldn't wait to try them out. When I did try them I was so pleasantly surprised - they're amazing!

Before I start to share why they're so good, this is a totally honest reveiw (cross my heart!). I got the Destiny sunglasses (£79) as I like my shades big and bold, and really loved the shape and thin arm when they arrived. Finding a shape of glasses that works for you can be tricky, so I often stick to a standard shape.

The sunglasses really do get rid of any glare and I even road tested them during extreme circumstances (I was very hungover). You never find yourself squinting or getting glare. And now for the science ...

All Polaroid sunglasses come with UltraSight™ lenses – made from technically advanced eco-polymers that are formed and quality checked at our European research and production facility in the Vale of Leven, Scotland. We use Thermofusion™ Technology, a process exclusively developed by Polaroid Eyewear, to curve and complete our lenses. The result is sunglasses that give you outstanding visual acuity. Which means you’ll see things accurately, even at a distance. And with our polarizing technology, you won’t have to worry about glare. Our lenses also block all harmful UV light up to 400nm and incorporate shock absorbers for safety. Polaroid sunglasses take your eyes seriously. That’s why we’ve included information that will show you how our sunglasses are different - and better.

Thank you for my sunglasses, Polaroid - they will never be leaving my handbag!

Kitten v Blogging

Sorry I haven't been blogging very much for the last few days. But let me explain why. I have a new Kitten. Her name is Dolly Parton (long story!) and she likes to type while I'm typing, making blogging slightly challenging. Hopefully I'll be back in full swing soon, as I'm chopping at the bit to review some Polaroid sunglasses I was sent (they're amazing!), a rundown on the Cannes red carpet (amazing) and K-Stew in that red dress (not normally a fan, but wowsers!).

Hope you've been having fun in the sun and here are some photos of said kitty.

Cannes Film Festival 2012 Red Carpet - Eva Longoria, Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing

Nowhere has a red carpet as stylish, glamourous and downright money as the Cannes Film Festival and no one does the red carpet at Cannes quite like Eva Longoria. Every single year she wins at competitive red carpet dressing (that's a sport, right?), normally with a little help from Marchesa.

But Eva's not the only Cannes red carpet starlet who I fan girl. Cannes 2011 was all about Rachel McAdams and Fan Bingbing, is stunning red gowns from Marchesa and McQueen, respectively. We haven't seen McAdams (yet) at this year's Cannes, but taking her place on the red carpet this year is everyone's favourite red carpet icons, Diane Kruger.

Diane Kruger wowed in a delicately beautiful chiffon gown that channelled a modern day Grace Kelly (competition there, January Jones!) and really stole the show from her other co-stars.

I can't wait to see what delectable delights the Cannes 2012 red carpet has in-store, but Eva, Diane and Fan are sure to have plenty more show stoppers up their couture sleeves.

Who's your favourite Cannes red carpet star and who would you like to see them wearing? I'd love to see Fan back in some McQueen - red carpet perfection!

What To Wear To A Summer Wedding

It's been a year since the summer of love (and wedding dresses) that took over the 2011 summer season, with A-list nuptials and the blushing brides Kate Middleton, Kate Moss and Lily Allen, and this summer sees my my wedding-heavy summer season start on Friday. This has got me thinking about the perfect wedding outfits and fashions and the all important dos and don't of what to wear to a wedding.

I've only got a few days until my first wedding of the summer, and I hadn't even started to think about what to wear until a few weeks ago, so I thought I'd blog about the dresses that were on my wishlist and will work for any weddings you may have coming up. My main rule when you're a guest at the wedding is don't overshadow the bride. It's her big day, so don't wear white (ever. It's so not cool), don't wear something too short/tight/low cut and don't wear something that may make you look like one of the bridesmaids.

I've shortlisted some gorgeous dresses and outfits that would work perfectly for any style of summer wedding, including fabulous high street options from Warehouse and Reiss, and designer dreams from Etro and Mulberry.

P.s. I've gone for the Warehouse maxi dress - do you like?

Australian Fashion Week - Spring Summer 2012/2013

Some of us weren't lucky enough to attend Australian Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012/2013 in Sydney last week, but the good news is that Beach Tomato Editor, Kirsty Hathaway, has done all the legwork (and had the jetlag) for us and shared the best bits with Carina100.

I'm a huge fan of Australian fashion and think they have some of the coolest, most wearable collections going. But now it's over to Kirsty to give us the highlights of Australian Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012/2013....

As Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia hits the Overseas Terminal in the heart of the city, the Sydney-sider fashion crowd pour in by the dozens. Draped and engulfed in bright patterns, block colours and teamed with tanned legs; it is safe to say that this crowd ain’t afraid of the bright and the beautiful.

Beach Tomato Editor, Kirsty Hathaway headed down under to see what was on offer both on and off the catwalks at MBFWA. And, in a country where sunshine takes precedence, there was barely a piece of black cloth in sight, with Alice McCall’s bright floral leading the way, going down the Babushka doll meets Hungarian florals route, giving an incredibly graphic, folky collection.

Colour really was the name of the game this season and fluro stormed pretty much every catwalk, if even for a look. Manning Cartell paired some serious neon pink with oversized shapes, sports luxe, pencil skirts and crop tops - a treat for the eyes and the senses and a definite look to be sporting this summer.

A bit more info about Kirsty Hathaway. Having worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years, starting her career at GQ and Vogue before moving on to Company magazine, as Fashion Editor, Kirsty Hathaway then embarked on a career fuelled by her biggest passion; the beach. With the launch of both Beach Tomato Magazine and The Beach Tomato Shack – the online shop home to the world’s best beach brands – Kirsty aims to target a fashion-savvy audience with an innate passion for travel.

Huge thanks to Kirsty Hathaway and Beach Tomato for giving such a great insight into Australian Fashion Week (for all of us in the other hemisphere!).

2012 Met Gala Best Dressed - Beyonce, Emma Stone and Christina Ricci

Another year, another gorgeous array of couture and beautiful people at the New York MET Gala 2012. Last year's event saw some spectacular dresses from Diane Kruger, Liv Tyler and Christina Ricci, leaving my expectations very high for 2012.

The red carpet was crowded with stars in intricately detailed, jewel coloured and devilishly detailed dresses and their designer buddies. But if I had to pick my top 3 red carpet looks from the MET Gala last night, it would have to be red carpet veteran and out-and-out Queen B Beyonce in Givenchy, my red carpet perma-favourite Emma Stone in Lanvin (looking super cute with Alber!) and my two years in a row MET Gala red carpet fave, pocket-sized fashionita, Christina Ricci in Thankoon.

There were so many amazing looks and styles, it was tough to choose my top three! Who was your best dressed at the MET Gala 2012?
