Carina Covets - ASOS Ankle Boots

I am seriously crushing on these cut-out detail ankle boots from ASOS. It may be cold outside, but in my heart it's Spring and I'm taking transitional style to the extreme with these slightly impractical, but oh-so-cool ankle boots. Spring here we come!

What item are you coveting?

SAG Awards Red Carpet Best Dressed: Rose Byrne

There was only really one person who stood out for me on the red carpet at the SAG Awards 2013 and that was Rose Byrne in Valentino ruffles. I'd loved everything about this dreamy, vintage style dress, from the muted colours and floral print to the girly ruffles and retro styling.

The delicate waist belt and champagne satin clutch are understated and add to the serene, elegant look. The cherry on this fresh, Spring look are the gorgeous brushed out waves and raspberry pink lip. Got to love the statement brows too.

Destiny's Child: Style in Review

Squeals the world over could be heard with the announcement that Destiny's Child are all set to release their first new material in years. Children of the 90s will be with me in rejoicing that the girl group who rejuvenated the matching girl band wardrobe look in 1998, with each girl in a different look but using the same fabric (aka Sound of Music-esque curtain dressing!), are all set for a come back.

Part of me hopes they return glossy and grown-up and a another part (a much bigger part) wants Mama Beyonce (Tina Knowles) to design a trio of outfits that match and "compliment" each other, as per their heyday style. Here are some of the looks that Destiny's Child rocked and you may have forgotten (and may wish to quickly forget again), including 'Survivor' fur and barely there Grammy dresses. Enjoy!

We don't dress alike no, do we? Anyone up for matchy-matchy wardrobe revival?

2013 Golden Globes Red Carpet: Best Dressed

The Golden Globe Awards 2013 red carpet was a very glamourous affair. There were full skirted gowns, every shade of red from scarlet to blush, and elegant pale column dresses. Strapless and backless dresses were key on the red carpet, with a go-hard-or-go-home jewellery policy.  Some stars were dripping in diamonds, like Jessica Alba in a $5.8 million Harry Winston necklace, and some went bare, like Anne Hathaway who let her dazzling Chanel dress be the focus.

Even though Zooey Deschanel and Jennifer Lawrence both wore very similar red gowns (Zoeey's was Oscar de la Renta and Jennifer's was Dior), they looked stunning. Zooey went more classic with pearls, while Jennifer highlighted her killer waist with a patent black dress.

Jessica Alba's Oscar de la Renta blush dress might be my favourite ever look from the beautiful star. Another person rocking the fishtail look was Taylor Swift who obviously was listening to everyone's compliment's about her People's Choice red carpet look and went for sleek, sexy and simple.

Taking a spin on period styles were Lucy Liu in an out of this world Carolina Herrera gown with a vibrant rose print, and Downton's own Lady Mary, Michelle Dockery, looked resplendent in a Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown with a dramatic high collar and capped sleeves.

And I have to point out how fab the co-host Tina Fey looked in L'Wren Scott. I love the scalloped lace hem and the turned down collar neckline that made this wiggle shape dress look very chic.

Who was your best dressed at the Golden Globes 2013?

People's Choice Awards 2013 Red Carpet

Award season is here and we're already off to a great start on the red carpet. At the 2013 People's Choice Awards (feels weird seeing 2013, doesn't it?) there were lots of great dresses, beauty looks and hair styles. Lea Michele was rocking a bold fuchsia mini dress, but her standout plait hair style was what caught my attention on the red carpet.

Leading the way at the People's Choice Awards 2013 was Taylor Swift who wore a deeply slashed Ralph Lauren white gown, which was very sleek and sexy compared to her usual vintage, girly style. She may have split from One Direction's Harry Styles recently are their media whirlwind romance, but this is *exactly* how how you want to have that 'first bump into your ex' moment.

The Big Bang's Kaley Cuoco wore a sugary sweet pink dress on the red carpet, but in my opinion she should have worn her after party dress which was so different from her usual candy coloured prom style. The baroque style peplum dress with daring sheer sections with poker straight hair and a gothic plum lip is such a great look on Kaley. More of this please!

Looking stylish and being very funny during the show came naturally to Olivia Munn. In a classic shift shape with a fishtail kick in striking monochrome she gave great host when she joked around that Taylor Swift wrote 'Never, Ever' about her and their break-up.

Who was your best dressed and what Red Carpet are you looking forward too? Golden Globes? The Oscars?

Shop The Sales: Style Steals

The sales this year are super tempting, with huge discount and many shops now offering an additional 10% off sale prices, so I've rounded up some of my favourite sales (and given you the codes you need to save even more!). Remember the golden sale rules though:

  1. Don't buy something just because it has a huge discount, just because it's cheap doesn't mean you'll wear it.
  2. Make sure whatever you buy fits with your style and current wardrobe.
  3. Don't buy something to 'slim into'.
  4. Look for items you had your eye on before the sale started.
  5. Sales are great for presents, so think ahead and get presents for friends and family.
  6. Go for quality over quantity. Even if it's 4 times the price, you'll wear the cashmere cardigan lots more than the sheer maxi dress with built in pants.
  7. If you love it, get it there and then, or it will go to another happy shopper.

Happy shopping!

Jennifer Lawrence Is A 60s Siren For Vanity Fair February 2013

I have a serious girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence, but this shoot for Vanity Fair February 2013 is stunning. Wow, wow and wow. Not bad for my first post of 2013 (Happy New Year, BTW). Channeling a cool 60s vibe, the big hair, cigarette pants, crop tops and evocative poses show just why she's been voted most desirable woman and why women love her style and attitude just as much.

Looking like a Bridgette-Bardot-Marilyn-Monroe-super-bot, she shows why she's getting so much media attention for her style and film roles. The whole editorial may look like it's 60s inspired, but I get a 90s 'Guess' advert and supermodel feel as well which, obviously, I love. I was a huge fan of Silver Lining Playbook, it was one of my favourite films from 2012, and I can't wait to see what's coming in 2013.

What do you think of Jennifer's style and the 60s/90s trend in general?
